12/23/15 – Day 1!

Posted in Uncategorized on December 24, 2015 by Candice Cox

Just a quick update to let you know how today went:

Bible reading: Genesis 12-15

Exercise: 30 mins on elliptical

Water: 2L

Reading:  Reviewed The One Thing a bit more

Learned:  It’s better to identify what activities will produce the greatest results towards my goals.

Applied:  I reviewed the book again, set my goals and identified the key areas to focus on.

Shared:  I shared with a couple of people in Jamaica what I learned so they can declutter their to do lists and focus on what is going to really matter.

Taught:  Taught those same two ladies to do this for themselves and to teach it to those they know.

Audio:  done

Accountability to coaches:done

Add value: Met a lady in a wheelchair asking for money.  I sat a talked with her, found out her story, how she got there… in the wheelchair… asking for money… she shed tears just grateful for someone to actually care enough to ask.  I gave her a little something and a huge hug.   I think more than the money, looking into her eyes and actually caring about her made the biggest difference in her day.  It made me even more grateful to God for His many blessings.

12/22/15 – Day 0 – Commitments

So in the remaining time of 2015 and into 2016, these are the things I will be focusing on and establishing as habits in my life:

  1. Daily Bible reading: Reading the Bible through once this year.  I’m not endeavoring to STUDY it, just to read it as a story, from cover to cover.  Thanks Colin 😉Goal.JPG
  1. Daily exercise: To get back to grad weight, 117 pounds.  This may vary a bit as I was slim fat (no muscle) and this time around I plan to have muscle!  So we’ll see if I get to 117… my guess is I will be more like 125/130.  In any case, I plan to lose 110 pounds or so.  So daily I will do min 30 mins of exercise or 10,000 steps on my fitbit.  Thanks Ray & Glo for the challenge.  As a side note, Ray & Glo challenged me to do this on October 25, 2015 and to date I am down 10 pounds so I need to step up my game!
  1. Feed my body right: For me, there are several changes I need to make as I had my gallbladder removed a while ago.  I need to up my water, decrease my caffeine,  eat low fat, high fiber diet, and supplement adequately.
  1. Daily reading to LAST: Reading with an intent on learning, applying, sharing and teaching.
  1. Daily listening to an audio: To improve my people skills and allow me to relate better.
  1. Daily accountability: I will be doing a quick daily post and a longer weekly post focusing on my health goals primarily but may post on other wins as well.   I will also be connecting either via a live call or voicemail to people I have chosen to be coaches and mentors.
  1. Getting out and adding value to people daily: I want to cultivate a go-giver spirit and mentality in my life.  I am a natural introvert and I plan to open my arms and my life and invite more people in.  I want to expand my sphere of friends and improve my network and break down my introvert walls.

I re-read the book THE ONE THING by Gary Keller and boy had I been violating all the things I should do to be successful!   I was consistently focusing on WAY too many things that matter WAY to little to my goals.  So the list above represents the few daily activities I need to do to advance toward my 2016 goals.  This is a far cry from the 17 daily activities I was fighting to do previously!

So yes I will be focusing on all these things, but not sure if you’ll get a daily post or not…. a weekly check in on the weekends is what you guys will get definitely though (and maybe a picture of my progress).

Thanks everyone!

I’m back.. again.

12/22/15 – Day 0 – I’m back

Well I’m back after a 2+ year hiatus.

We are coming to the end of 2015 so of course, I, and millions of others, will be reviewing our year and goal setting for 2016.

One of the things I have been doing is reviewing my previous posts because I had a lot of insights and revelations that I somehow forgot and that has me in the same place in many areas, 6 years later!!!

How does someone focus on change and change minimally? *sigh*

Well the incredible Fenton Eng recently gave me some insight into this.  At a recent meeting, he said that goals and consistency is like a rocket ship taking off.  The majority of the fuel is used up in the pushing off from earth.  At some point, there is enough momentum that the rocket can continue on its trajectory, but with a fraction of the fuel.  The catch is, if the rocket was to have stopped before hitting that point of “mo”, it would not have enough fuel to get to its destination without refueling.  The start-stop, the lack of persistence, kills the journey!  (This is my paraphrase).

So for 2016 my word is persistence (to abide, continue steadfastly).  That means to stand firm and strong and to continue doing what I know is right despite circumstance, despite emotions, despite results.

I’m coming back to posting blogs for a few reasons:

  1. Writing helps me organize my thoughts.
  2. I hoping my getting back up and fighting for my dreams and goals will inspire someone to do the same.
  3. Accountability – I will not only be sharing this on the blog but connecting it to my social media and there will be no hiding from my goals!

So here I am… AGAIN… LOL  Thanks in advance for joining me on this journey.
